BUSINESS GROWTH VIA TEAM BUILDING, VOLUNTEERS, NETWORKS AND CONNECTING WITH RIGHT MINDS PART 1

I was hosted on #SkillMeUp a couple of weeks back and I shared a few thoughts via my Twitter handle @IamJLordz. I'm so sorry I didn't post it on my personal blog. I just read through it again and I felt it was quite educative and was worth sharing here.

I will be sharing thoughts on Business growth via team building, volunteers, building networks etc. Let’s hit it.
Every entrepreneur and successful business owner has adapted and is still using the skills I will be discussing
The first aspect we are dissecting is Team Building.
Team building simply speaks of synergizing your work force to produce maximum efficiency.
A background truth: Everybody has his/her unique strength and not everyone is “useful”
But this is after proper selection has been made. So let’s step back and speak a bit on the selection process.
How do you identify and select effective people to build your team?
You need to come to terms with the fact that you make the best of what you have available.
The next is to identify all the elements where you need people to form and build a formidable team.
Next you need to realize that you might need to do many of those areas you need people by yourself.
If you need to get trained in that area then go ahead and learn if not managing your own skill is easier than managing people.
Your team members don’t necessarily need to be people you already have a relationship with.
Speaking with people goes a long way in shortening your search.
Always have at the back of your mind that people = network = influence.
Set a time frame for the search of these people and stick with it. Except if extremely important move on with those you’ve got. Eventually they can help you find the other “missing person”
To get the best out of people, the following things are extremely important. Build an atmosphere of warmth and ease of communication. Introduce fun and relaxation.
Let people know their specific task and how important they are to the overall success. Never make anyone feel like they are indispensable. It is never to early to work on protégé.
Make promises, fulfill them and apologize profusely when you can’t. Always sell visions and dreams to your team. Always welcome feedback, criticism and suggestions and implement them.
When financial rewards come, PUT YOUR TEAM FIRST. Celebrate success, learn from failures, never place blames on individuals. So let’s call it a day on team building. We move to the next topic.
Next is volunteering.
Volunteering is two ways. You volunteer or people volunteer to help you.
I must be honest I have done sooooo much of this and I have had sooooo many people volunteer to help me. This is one of the biggest money saving technique and experience gaining one.
You just must employ this to get success with less effort and plenty reward. Managing volunteers is as simple as managing your core team. It’s just integrated. But sincerely it’s more difficult because you have more people. The reward is worth the pain and the question that readily comes to mind is “how can you get volunteers?”
How to get volunteers is simply by asking.
People will find out about your people managerial skills and will decide to work with you if they are comfortable with you.
It’s been an exciting time so far. We shall stop here for this part kindly join us for part 2 on SkillMeUp with Stakeholda & Associates
Join me next week as we host a thought leader on Skill Me Up every Monday at 5pm on Twitter. Thanks for your time and attention.
